We are enjoying abundance of showers from the Lord, He is worthy of our praises. The scripture says, All the Glory must be unto the Lord, for only Him is worthy of our praise. Hallelujah!!!
Our scriptural reference for the message says, “And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.” —Acts 16:18
Yes, this slave girl performed sorcery and divination for the profit of her owners, when Paul and Silas arrived in Philippi, she followed them around shouting (hailing), “These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation” (Acts 16:17). King David always ask people of different beliefs and opinions to his by saying, “What have I to do with you?” The same question can be asked here, what was her interest in this matter? Was her free adverts in good faith?
2Corinthians 2:11 warns us not to be ignorant of Satan’s methods. What she said was true, but her source was demonic. Although this may seemed like good advertising for these men of God who just arrived into town, but the real reason behind this free unsolicited commercial activities for them was only trying to expose them so they would be arrested, beaten, or run out-of-town; knowing fully well that the majority citizens of Philippi are idol worshippers.
The devil has no good gift, it is not in the position of the devil to expose us; rather, we are to expose him (Ephesians 5:11). If Paul had let her go on unchecked, people would link the gospel with the things of the devil, believing they are in the same racketeering.
You may earn more likes and comments on your social media post, but that is not the purpose of sharing the Word of God. So also, do not be discouraged by those who undermines/ridicules your post and attacks your inspirational source. If Apostles Paul and Silas had enjoyed the hailing of the possessed slave girl, the purpose why they went preaching would have been defeated for their own self aggrandisement. Remember it was the same crowd that hailed Jesus saying “And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.” Matthew 21:9. They also wailed “Crucify him, crucify him.” Little wonder the scripture says, “But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.” John 2:24-25 KJV
Our commission is to go and say it the way it is, and be a good ambassadors ourselves. The scripture says, “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:1-5 KJV
Don’t be soft on sin, or on the devil. Expose evil the Bible says.
Expose Satan at every turn. Expose him in the horoscopes, and in the psychics. Expose him in the ritual and the religious. Expose him in the lies and in the deceptions. Give no place to his work in your life.
“Don’t allow Satan any opportunity to wreak havoc in your life, but resist the devil and it will flee.” (James 4:7).
Lord Jesus, empower me to test the spirits, and expose the devil wherever it rears its ugly head. Give me the confidence to live a life that will remind the devil where it belong under my heel as I bruise its head in my daily life in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
